Deseret News Half Marathon

I've finally had some healthy, solid weeks of training and was excited to race. It ended up being a tough but still very fun day. I ran very well through 8+ miles and then experienced a very painful side stitch for the first time during a race. I tried to work through it but eventually it was making my breathing very shallow and quick so I had to stop and do a few techniques and thankfully was able to get it to go away. I was passed twice while stopped. I was able to get back into a decent rhythm and pass the two people who caught me during the break and finish 12th in 1:16. I feel like I'm in much better shape than this result but I am still thankful for a good hard effort and race. I'm excited to get another crack at the half in a few weeks.

It was so much fun seeing and racing with so many Sojourners!
