Salt Lake City Half Marathon

Woke up feeling tired but still excited to run! Ran my warm up from my house to the start because babe was still sleeping and we have one car. Glad I grabbed my hat last second for the rain.
Race started with a group of 5-6 women. Devra, T (Christina), Allie, Emily, and I, and Rachelle not far behind. It was really fun to run as a group.
Then after the SHP loop Devra surged and the group strung out. I attempted to go with her, but my breathing wasn't great, and I felt it was too early to pick it up and suffer for 7 miles. So T went with Devra and they held a solid pace, gradually pulling away. At mile 8 I decided I would try to catch them, but I let them get too far ahead, and I only made up a few seconds. So by mile 9, I stopped trying and gap continued to open.
The last 2.5 miles were not fun. It started raining harder and we were running into a nice head wind. I tried to pick it up at mile 12 and just get it over with. I finished third and we all measured the course about .12 long. My watch said 1:20:45 for 13.22 miles at 6:07 AP.
So glad it's over. The rain just kept coming and I was freezing! Forget the cool down, grabbed my clothes and jumped in the car. None of the top 3 women stayed for awards. Sorry.
T won and ran a personal best (1:19:4x) and Devra right behind her. Both training for the Ogden Marathon. They will do so well. Allie finished fourth, Emily fifth, Rachelle sixth. I really liked the new course, just not the weather!
The fans were great. So much support and cheering. And the race was well put together. I would have liked to hang around after and enjoy the band and food and friends, but I was frozen.
