Oops I thought I posted this one. Well any it was a perfect morning to race. Warmed up with the Sojourner racing team and felt like my legs were ready to go after running 105 miles for the week so far. The gun went off and immediately after the first few steps it felt like my quads were ready to give out with the muscle just crapping it felt like they were getting shocked. It took a good 4 miles for them to finally loosen up. Top 3 guys (Zak Matt and the winner) went out and I decided to hang with the first chase pack (Mike and 4th place). I fell back from Mike and the other guy about mile 4 then mustard some more strength and caught them about mile 6 and ran a mile with them and then decided all or nothing so I made a move at 7 but actually looking back at my watch I stayed about the same pace. The 4 place guy and I traded spots like 3 or 4 times for the next 5 miles. Mike didn't respond to the move and fell back. I thought it was him at first that followed me but I didn't want to look back to see. With a mile to go I new this was going to be my last move and if he passed me I had nothing left. My legs were starting to feel the mileage in them. Unfortunately he had another gear and I couldn't respond. I was a little disappointed I could't defend my bib number. I was very happy with the finishing time after running such high mileage. I finished the week off at a 123 miles after the cool down. My longest week of my life. NEW PR for weekly mileage. Cool down was the biggest group of runners I have cool down with sense college, it was really fun to hear how every bodies race went. Great day for running and the snacks at the end of the race were awesome.
