Halloween Half Marathon

I have always wanted to run this race, and figured this was probably my last chance for a long time.
Crazy morning!  Buses were way backed up getting to the starting line (Provo Canyon Rd, right at the turn off to Wallsburg).  And those already at the start didn't know there were still several buses coming. I barely stripped off my warmups and placed 2 safety pins on the bib to my shirt, and started running to the start (that was my warmup).  I was still 200m back when the gun goes off.  This race had over 2000 people so I was way backed up.  It took at least 4 miles to catch the girl in first. And by that point I was top 10.
Around mile 6.5 we got on the river trail at Vivian park, then my paces stayed consistently just under 6:00 min for the rest of the race.  I stayed in 3rd place for the last 4 or 5 miles and so not much happened.  I finished first for women in 1:19:02 and found out on the results that my time actually beat the guy in front of me by 2 seconds.  That was cool, that never happens when you start in the front :)
If you were wondering what I was dressed up as.... I was Cruella Devil.  I even wore the black and white wig the whole race.  I was fine at first, and it even kept my head warm.  Then the last 5 miles got hot and it was just annoying.  It only took a minute for my little girl to recognize me :) she is not scared of much.
The race was beautiful and fun, but pretty unorganized.  We waited 2 hours for our bags to get there.   Then I ran 3 miles to my car back by costco.  They had great sponsors though.  Tons of Trader Joes goodies.  And pretty cool shirts.  Halloween is crazy!  And makes people crazy.
