Homestead 15k - blah

Adam Jenkins:
Place: 4th overall
Time: 55:37

Well, compared to my other recent races, this one did not go very well. I took the week off of running for the sake of my foot injury, but wanted to test out racing today anyways, especially since I had some new race shoes to test out. I think part of the problem was eating two bowls of my fatty, greasy hamburger helper 4 cheese lasagna the night before. I'm sure getting 5 hours of sleep wasn't so helpful either, but hey, I've had success with that in the past. :) Anyways, leading up to the race, I really wasn't feeling too stoked to run. My foot didn't feel much better, and I was just drained of all my energy. I started out the race wanting to run with Rory Linkletter and Mike Felix, but could feel at about 2 miles that I wouldn't be able to hold pace for the whole race today. I wish I would have done the 5k for several reasons. One, I would have been able to get back with more time to get ready for work, and I also thought it sounded more fun and would have been easier on my body. Instead I went out with Mike and Rory and tried to hit a good 5k split then backed off for the rest of the race. Still a pretty good time that I'm not upset with for being out of it. It was also just a really fun race and nice course. I do love running.

splits:
1-5:25
2-5:26
3-5:36
4-7:41
5-6:00
6-6:18
7-6:48
8-6:48
9-5:32
