Prefect morning to run a 10k. It was almost humid, but not hot. Ran part of
my warm up w/ Julie Thomas and had a few minutes till the start. I had a lot of
family running. My husband, brother-in-law and his family of 4, two sisters and
their husbands, and mother-in-law walking pushing Lee. No dressing up this
year. I left that up to my sister Wonder Woman.
I got out hard for the first 3 miles of the race (5:46 pace) and then backed
off. Today was going to be a long day and I didn't want to be wasted.
Letting up was very easy to do since it is mostly up hill the last half. I managed to hold on to the win and still felt strong at the end. I think I was 9th overall, which is probably my best overall finish in this race. After
I finished and cheered in friends and my husband, we ran back a mile to find my
little Lee. They were definately the last ones bringing in the rear.
I think my AP was 6:00 (37:23). Saw lots of Sojourners at the awards! Amber won the 5k, and Melody in 3rd. Super impressive by those two!
Fun tradition.
