I prepared myself for this 5k better than my last one (better warm up, attitude, rest). Physically I felt pretty tired during my warm up, and I never shook that feeling until after the race was over. I'm still used to afternoon and night races from college. The race itself went well. I tried to just relax and stick with the main group. Whenever a move was made I did my best to cover it. At about mile 2 the race was down to Teren and I. Last time we met he beat me very soundly. This time the plan was to stay with him and make a move at the end. With about ~400 meters remaining I made a move and he seemed uninterested in a kicking battle. I finished in first place feeling tired, but also strong. My only complaint about this race was that the course map was nowhere to be found. The email that was sent that had the course map had just a map with no course on it. When I got there this morning I asked the director about the course and he said he would explain it at the start line. Not knowing the course caused me a little bit of confusion on one of the turns but it ended up being ok. This was a good overall boost for the Des News 10k. I'm looking forward to the competition and body-destroying downhill death.
