BYU Homecoming 5k

I showed up with lots of family running the kids races.  So fun to see all the little kids sprinting down the track!  The 5k started after which made it a tad warmer.  I ran a 2 m warmup and lined up with a bunch of BYU girls.
We start up a hill for just over a half mile then come flying down 9th E.  So pacing for this is tricky.  The last mile winds back around campus and finish on the track.  I took the lead within 400m and kept a good push up the hill.  Then coming down a couple of guys pass me and I decided to keep with them and let the pull me.  That really helped.  I stayed with them all the way to the finish.  I came in first for women in 17:51 (5:50,5:24,5:52, not sure on the .1).
I ran a long cool down (8 m)with a group of BYU girls on their long run.  Makes me feel old.
So all in all, not bad for a treadmill runner.  I ran 1 second faster than last year :)
