Blake Pumphrey-Provo City 5k

Saturday was perfect running conditions!! I did the provo city 5k in prep for ogden marathon in 2 weeks.  My goal of this race was to run the first 2 miles in 11 min and then just hold on for the last mile.  When I got to the first mile and saw 5:22 I was so happy and then when I got to the second mile and saw 5:28 I was stoked that I had made my goal.  I felt good and was pleased with how my entire body felt.  My next thought was that well i hit my goal and so I can slow down and just cruise in.  But instead I decided to continue to push.  At this point we were in a big group of the half marathoners and so I had to do a little bit of weaving.  My third mile was a little slower at 5:37 with an ending total time at 17:01.  That is by far a PR for me and I didn't feel totally wasted at then end.  With that time I took 5th over all and 3rd in my age group.  It was so much fun to be there with so many runners corner people at the start of the race.  I felt like part of a team and it was also awesome to see everyone at the finish line especially all the half marathoners who stayed around to cheer us on.

Splits: 5:22, 5:28, 5:37, 0:33. Over all average 5:29
